Weapon System & Switching Guide

Understanding weapon types, upgrades, and how weapon switching changes your playstyle.

Weapon Basics

Each character in 7DS Origin can equip different weapon types. Weapons aren't just stat sticks - they fundamentally change your character's moveset and abilities. Most characters have access to 1-3 weapon types with approximately 3 variants per weapon type. Weapons are upgraded separately from characters.

Weapon Types by Character

Meliodas: Broken Sword (default), Demon Blade. Tristan: Sword (default), Goddess Staff. Diane: War Hammer Gideon (default). Ban: Three-Section Staff (default), Nunchaku. King: Spirit Spear Chastiefol (multiple forms). Merlin: Magic Staff (default), Tome. Escanor: Divine Axe Rhitta (default). Elizabeth: Goddess Staff (default), Healing Rod. Weapon availability expands as you progress and unlock new weapon types through story and events.

How Weapons Change Gameplay

Switching weapons changes: Basic attack combo patterns (speed, range, number of hits), 2-3 active skills completely replaced with new skills, Ultimate animation and effect (sometimes), Stat focus (some weapons boost ATK, others boost DEF). Example: Meliodas with Broken Sword focuses on counters and demon power, but with Demon Blade becomes a pure aggressive rush-down character.

Weapon Upgrade System

Weapons upgrade through enhancement levels (+1 to +30). Each enhancement level requires: Weapon-specific materials (dropped from dungeons), Gold (cost increases with level), Sometimes rare ores for high-level upgrades. Stat increases per level: +2% ATK, +1% HP, Special stat bonuses at +5, +10, +15, +20, +30. Always prioritize upgrading your main DPS character's weapon first.

Weapon Acquisition

Story progression: Each character's default weapon obtained through story. Gacha/Summon: Rare weapons available in limited banners (separate from character banners). Crafting: Collect materials to forge weapons at blacksmith (unlocks Chapter 3). Events: Limited-time event rewards. Shop: Some basic weapons purchasable with in-game currency. Focus on upgrading existing weapons before chasing new ones.

Best Weapons for Each Role

DPS Characters: Prioritize weapons with high ATK scaling and offensive skills. Look for weapons with: Crit rate/damage bonuses, Attack speed increases, Multi-hit combos. Tank/Defense: Weapons with HP and DEF bonuses, Skills with shields or damage reduction, Counter-attack mechanics. Support: Weapons that enhance buff duration or team utility, Skills with area effects, Cooldown reduction stats.

Weapon Switching Strategy

You can change weapons between missions from the character menu. When to switch: Boss requires ranged attacks → use long-range weapon, Need more survivability → use defensive weapon variant, Speedrunning easy content → use high DPS weapon, Learning new character → stick to default weapon first. Experiment in training mode before committing upgrade resources.

Weapon Passive Abilities

Higher rarity weapons unlock passive abilities: Rank 4 weapons: 1 passive (example: +10% damage to demons), Rank 5 weapons: 2 passives (example: +15% crit rate, heal on crit). Passive abilities activate automatically when weapon is equipped. Some passives synergize with specific character kits - research before upgrading. End-game focuses heavily on collecting and maxing 5-star weapons.

Weapon Tier List (General)

S-Tier: Limited event weapons with unique passives, Character signature weapons (Gideon for Diane, Rhitta for Escanor). A-Tier: Gacha 5-star weapons with strong stat bonuses, Craftable max-tier weapons. B-Tier: Story progression weapons, Standard gacha 4-star weapons. C-Tier: Tutorial and early game weapons. Note: Weapon value varies by character and content. A 4-star weapon that synergizes well > 5-star weapon that doesn't fit playstyle.

Resource Management Tips

Early game (Week 1-2): Focus on upgrading 1-2 weapons to +10, Use only farmable materials, don't use gems for weapon pulls. Mid game (Week 3-4): Get main DPS weapon to +15-20, Start upgrading secondary characters' weapons to +10. Late game (Month 2+): Push main weapons to +30, Collect and max limited 5-star weapons, Farm specific weapon materials from co-op hard mode. Never sell weapons - you might need them later or for collection bonuses.
